Alright, thanks to everyone that has written in response to the Paste Your Face Project. It’s great to see that there is so much support out there for this sort of thing. However, because of the amount of feedback I’ve been getting, I’ve decided to stop posting the responses. Don’t stop sending them though…I read them all and since it is a community based project I...

Hey
This is a genius idea dude, i recently did a project for college along the same lines of this, one of my inspirations was this Banksy quote- “People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not...

Amazing
I love it. The culture’s obsession with celebrities, elevating them as if they are better than “common” people working a variety of jobs has always annoyed me. The way you’re showing honor to people because they are people, not because they are rich or popular is really cool.

I found “Paste Your Face:  A Public Arts Project” on Tumblr this afternoon.  I love the original and community-oriented idea.  The art is lovely, too.  I like that everyone is local (but unaware they are modeling).  I wonder if anyone will ever recognize themselves as one of the drawings.

While I like the idea of community based pictures and the style of said pictures independently, I don’t think they mesh well together. When celebrities and the like are shown photographically around a community, they are usualy in ad form, providing a photo-realistic image of said celebrities. I feel like your work would better serve it’s fantastic premise if the photos of the locals...

"this is so cool!"
These were the first words out of my mouth, after I read the description and scrolled down the first page. This is a great idea! I absolutely love it, the story behind the blog and the pictures that go with it. It’s inspiring and creative. Great work, a definite follow for me. :)

I could not agree more with this project. I have little words to express the “finally, someone who gets it” emotion I feel. Ku-freaking-dos. : )

I saw your work on the Wooster Collective website, and I thought it was wonderful. Then I realized it’s right here in Portland, and now I am so curious where these faces are pasted. Are they mainly at bus stops? (it seems like trimet would rip them down almost as soon as they were put up?) I’m a major street art enthusiast and love pasting up portraits of people I know, but what I love...

Nice one!
S’great to see artistic flair reclaiming public spaces. I can imagine the puzzlement and excitement at seeing your own face popping out at you from surprising corners of the city. Also, some people are just really interesting looking.

love this.
when i first saw these i thought they were well done pieces of street art, but now that i know the reasoning behind it i love it even more- i LOVE the idea of pasting the faces that make up a community on its own walls! reminds me of this project http://arto.mx/seresqueridos/ and i wish there were many more like these! keep up the good work!!

Such a great idea, and I love the illustrative style. Keep it ambiguous, keep it big, and keep it coming.

like your idea
and most people are pretty egocentric (not always admittedly), and would love randomly seeing their awesome selves showcased in the limelight of a public space…

Hey man, I don’t live anywhere near Portland, and never have even been there, but caught these pictures in my inbox this morning.  Amazing concept, amazing work.  More cities should follow your lead and start getting the focus back where it should be, community and art. Keep up the good work dude —pat
