Paste Your Face: A Public Arts Project
I've always thought it was strange to see large images of celebrities, models and news anchors on walls, billboards, and buses. I've wondered why these people are adorning our walls and public spaces instead of the individuals that make up our community. This project serves as a physical representation of the city of Portland through drawings of it's inhabitants.

Everyone pictured is completely unknowing and chosen at random. Whether your reaction is positive or negative, please let me know by clicking the "Submit" button at the top of the page or emailing me at pasteyourfaceproject@gmail.com.

I'm sorry or you're welcome, depending on how you feel about this.

While I like the idea of community based pictures and the style of said pictures independently, I don’t think they mesh well together. When celebrities and the like are shown photographically around a community, they are usualy in ad form, providing a photo-realistic image of said celebrities. I feel like your work would better serve it’s fantastic premise if the photos of the locals were placed in the same advertising environment as the celebrities, creating a conversation not only between community and outsiders, but also between body image and self esteem and the average person. I think it would allow more people to understand the work while placing their beliefs on hold about who we decide to turn into demi-gods, while allowing them to question the unatainable beauty standard that is only present in declining societies.

Of course, this is your work and for all I know you’re trying to convey a totally different set of questions with the simplicity of the black and white “stamped” images.

Either way, I applaud the public work. I love when art is taken out of the gallery and the elitist setting that it provides and is delivered to everyone as a whole.
